The Mountain Valley Falcons got two third quarter goals and went on to edge the visiting Boothbay Region Seahawks, 2-1, in Rumford Friday.
Boothbay scored its only goal at 8:19 of the first quarter. Kari Blake pushed the ball past the Falcons’ goalie from about five feet in front of the net.
At 5:09 of the third quarter, Ella Young tied the score, and just over two minutes later, Neveah D’Angelo gave Mountain Valley the lead.
Both teams had several shots on goal in the fourth quarter but the defenses and goalies kept the game close.
Boothbay dropped to 0-2 on the season and Mountain Valley improved to 2-1-1
The Seahawks have a home game on Monday, Sept. 12 at 3:30 p.m. against Spruce Mountain (2-1).
