Seahawks lose to Winthrop, Spruce Mountain
The Boothbay Region High School field hockey team lost its last two games of the regular season and finished 2-12 but will compete in the upcoming Class C South tournament. Date and opponent are to be announced.
At home on a drizzly Monday afternoon, Oct. 17, the Winthrop Ramblers (12-2) got three goals from Madeline Wagner and went on to defeat Boothbay, 6-0. The Ramblers had unmatched speed and allowed only five shots on goal.
Boothbay goalie Cass Amaral, although allowing six shots to get by her, had 15 saves.
Other goal scorers for Winthrop were Bella Littler with two and Izzy Folsom.
Spruce Mountain 7 Boothbay 1
At Jay Oct. 12, the Spruce Mountain Phoenix got three goals from Olivia Mastine and went on to win 7-1 over Boothbay. The win gave the host team an 11-3 final regular season record.
Other scorers for Spruce Mountain were Brooklyn Fournier, Adell Pease, Aubrey Kachnovich and Leah Burgess.
