Boothbay planning board approves 2 applications
The Boothbay planning board reviewed four applications, approved two and tabled two Oct. 19. It approved applications for Atlantic Environmental, LLC of Woolwich and Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. The board tabled a proposed expansion of Boothbay Sea and Science Center in East Boothbay and the second step of Atlantic Environmental LLC’s solar project on Wiscasset Road.
In the first of Atlantic Environmental’s two applications, the Woolwich firm received approval for constructing a 6-foot by 90-foot pier, a seasonal ramp 3-feet by 40-feet and a seasonal dock 12-feet by 40-feet. The application also requested to stabilize the shoreline with riprap. Atlantic Environmental represented RWH Investmensts, LLC of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. The property is at 606 Ocean Point Road in East Boothbay and zoned in shoreline overlay and coastal residential districts.
CMBG received approval for a 2,350 square foot expansion to its culinary building as well as an interior renovation. The facility is at 105 Botanical Gardens Drive. The property is in shoreline overlay, watershed protection, coastal residential and residential water reservoir protection districts.
The board tabled BSSC’s request for a change of use from a residential to educational facility and employee housing. The board requested more information on traffic patterns for Route 96, Murray Hill Road and Lobsterman’s Way. The board also scheduled a site review for 3 p.m. Oct. 25 at 12 Carter Road. The center is planning on moving from Ocean Point Road to Carter Road.
The board also tabled step two of Atlantic Environmental’s site plan for a Wiscasset Road solar project. Atlantic represents Wiscasset Road Boothbay Solar, LLC. The firm wants to contract an approximately 2,600 kW DC solar energy project which will encompass eight acres, according to the application.
The board also heard one pre-application. Robyn Clark discussed her plans for amending subdivision lot lines on her 24 Sunny Acres Lane property.
The board meets next at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 in the conference room.
