BRES Wildcats win in overtime, play at Nobleboro Feb. 8 for regional title.
Feb. 6, the Boothbay Region Elementary School girls Wildcat basketball team bested the Bristol Blue Devils in a four-minute overtime, 32-29 in Bristol. Today, Feb. 8, the Wildcats play in the Southern Finals against Nobleboro at Nobleboro Central School at 3:45 p.m.
Said Coach Allison Crocker: “We lost once and beat Bristol once. Our game was supposed to be on our home court but due to the flooding at the school we had to travel to Bristol. (BRES players) played hard and came out with the win in overtime.”
“Nobleboro is number one in our conference and a tough team to beat,” said Coach Crocker. “We have lost to them twice in the regular season, but the girls are more than capable to do so. We are a young team made up of sixth and seventh graders playing against seventh and eighth grade teams. I have been so proud of the hard work these girls have put into the season.”
Nobleboro Central School is at 194 Central St.
In the boys playoff game at Bristol, Boothbay lost 56-35 and finished the season at 7-7.
