Selectmen approve ‘scaled back’ Pratt’s Island pier
A citizen’s group received approval for a smaller than requested pier in Joe’s Gut off Pratt’s Island April 25 during the Southport selectmen’s meeting. The group sought a 70-foot pier, but selectmen approved a 55-60-foot one. “We thought it was a little big so we asked them to scale it back 10-15 feet, Selectman Gerry Gamage said.
In other action, Foofa, LLC, a Squirrel Island tea room, received approval for its first malt liquor and wine license. Selectmen also approved two town hall rental requests. Caitlin Shepherd received approval for an April 30 birthday party and Southport Island Association received approval for a May 6 take-away lunch event.
Selectmen meet next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 in the town hall.
