Re: Eastside Waterfront Park
Dear Editor:
The Boothbay Harbor Eastside Waterfront Park will be a valuable asset to the harbor, and is already showing what a good neighbor it will be. Fishermen are using the dock, a sign of how the park will preserve access to waterfront for both commercial and leisure interests. The park is also sharing space with an organization cleaning up Maine waters and harbors.
As a summer resident of Boothbay for 35 years, and married to a woman whose family extends five generations here, I have seen how important it is to preserve traditional values in the face of rapid development. Keeping a sense of community requires sharing resources and pitching in to maintain the neighborhood. The Eastside Park has shown its strength as a good neighbor, and I hope to see this excellent preservation of waterfront in the heart of town completed soon!
