Winthrop takes down Boothbay
At Winthrop Oct. 11, the Ramblers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter and went on to defeat the visiting Boothbay Region Seahawks, 10-1, in Class C South field hockey.
Boothbay’s lone goal was scored by Kari Blake in the second quarter.
The win improved Winthrop’s record to 10-2 and the Ramblers are currently ranked second in the standings. At Boothbay in September, the Ramblers defeated the Seahawks, 8-1.
Boothbay dropped to 2-10 on the season with the loss and currently is in last place in Class C South.
The Seahawks have two more games left in the regular season. On Friday, Oct. 13, they will host Hall-Dale at 3:30 p.m. on Perkins Field. The Bulldogs defeated Boothbay earlier this season in Farmingdale, 4-0. On Monday, Oct. 16, Boothbay will host Lisbon on Senior Day at 3:30. The Seahawks got their second win (first was over Telstar) on the season with a 2-1 win at Lisbon in late September.
