BRHS field hockey awards presented
The Boothbay Region High School 2023 field hockey team held its post-season awards presentations Monday night, Oct. 30 in the school library.
Coach Skyler Davis presented certificates, letters and emblems to the 18 players and manager. She spoke of the season where the team improved over last year’s play (3-11, one more win than last season) and the improvement the second half of the season.
“I kept telling them they were better than they believed and they started to believe it as the season wound down,” said Davis, who was assisted by her mother, Danelle Davis.
Davis had positive comments about each player as they came to the front of the gathering to collect their items.
Davis awarded three plaques. Senior Kari Blake, who was also named a first-team all-star in the Mountain Valley Conference, received the team’s most valuable player plaque. Senior Meg Sledge received the team’s coaches award, and sophomore Ella Watts was presented with the team’s most improved player award. Senior Ariel Alamo was recognized for being an MVC second team all-star.
Following the 30-minute ceremony, everyone enjoyed the donated food and soft drinks.
Besides the aforementioned players, team members included seniors Avery Barter, Charlee Fuchswanz, Sarah Kreft and Natalie Mayotte; juniors Abbie Clark, Lily Nein, Magen Burge and Ivory Cody; and sophomores Tatum French, Rose Campbell, Sophie White, Cass Amaral, Abby Orchard and Bailey Lewis. Manager was sophomore Aileigh Johnson.
