As most residents across the region coped without power Dec. 19, some found a warm welcome at Southport Memorial Library.
The library hosted its second annual Holiday Open House, providing fresh baked goods, hot beverages and cheer. Librarians Jen Britton and Anne Maher said about 50 people came, whether it was for the community or just to stay warm and use the internet in one of the only powered buildings around. Patrons made themselves comfortable as they read, worked remotely, or just enjoyed one another’s company.
