News and notes from the Community Center
Our weekly weatherman is here once again! Wow, what a week we had last week. While our Boothbay Harbor structures suffered tremendously, I hope all of you are safe and sound. This week will be colder than we’re used to.
Open season has started to make appointments to get your tax returns done this year. Midcoast Ca$h will be holding two days for free tax preparation, Saturday, March 2, and Tuesday, April 2, at the Boothbay Town Office, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for those of you having annual earnings below $64,000. Sign up is a must for an appointment. If you’re interested, we will help you with the sign-up process at The Community Center. Alternatively, as of Jan. 15, you can make your own appointment by calling 207-295-6340 or 207-751-3756; or email midcoastcash@uwmcm.org, or visit the following website: www.eznetscheduler.com/calendar/midcoastmaineCASH.
Jean Larkin has asked me to tell you that she will begin a new writing class this month for all of you aspiring folks who would like to learn to write better – a story (fact or fiction), a memoir, or anything that suits you, even if it’s just directions to get someplace. These writings are for personal use unless you feel an urge to publish. The only skill needed is a desire.
Please: We need your help. Seniors without means of transportation need to get to their medical appointments, the grocery store, and personal appointments. Our driving program, made up of volunteers, is in dire need of drivers to get seniors to their appointments. If you are willing to help, please give us a call (633-9876) or stop in. When we receive a request for a ride, we will call/email/text you to ask if you are available for the designated time. You would then pick up the senior at their residence, take them to their appointment and afterwards return them home. Thank you so much in advance if you are willing to help.
