Hope to see you there
August 4 was a busy day for DEYC members. We said a sad goodbye to long time member and friend Carol Saunders. She would have loved that her service was so well attended and that a rousing barbecue party was held shortly thereafter. It was her kind of gathering.
The board meeting preceding the BBQ appointed member Jane Mulholland as the new Administrative Assistant. Welcome aboard, Jane. Many thanks to the outgoing Administrative Assistant and her husband, Barb and Mac Gray.
Our BBQ hosts were Joe and Brenda Blake and Joanne and Roy Lewis. Upon arriving at Crow Point one saw tables all over the lawn with red and white checked table cloths, flowers on each table arranged by Evelyn Shanan of Sweet Woodruff, and the smells of pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw and much more catered by Capt. Hog Tie. So delicious. Drinks were served from the Woody Wagon by Charlinda and Matt Carlson and crew. And to top it all off, we were entertained by Jim Hutton and his guitar!
There were more than 100 members and guests including nine Past Commodores. Those members who arrived early helped set up and those who stayed late helped clean up. Special thanks to Bucky Reed who did both and more. It takes a lot of people to put on such a great party. Thank you to all.
The next big event is the Hauling Out Party on September 15 at Blake's Boatyard. Hope to see you there.
