Carl Frederick Jordan, 69, died on May 30, 2024. 

Carl was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, boating, and skiing with friends and family. He also made excellent pies, which he happily baked for family and friends to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and other milestones.  

Carl was born in Rumford, Maine in the winter of 1955. He was the son of Carl M. and Elisabeth Grüner Jordan.  

Carl spent his early years in Western Maine. After the death of his father, Elisabeth relocated to Germany with Carl and his sisters. They returned to Maine in 1958. Elisabeth married Sumner Marshall in 1960 and they raised the family in Alfred.  

Carl graduated from Massabesic High School in 1973. He attended the University of Maine at Orono, where he was active in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He earned his bachelor of science in forestry in 1977. Carl married Donna Chadbourne of Alfred in June 1977 and they settled in Guilford, Maine.  

Carl worked throughout Maine in forestry, the paper industry, and construction sales. He was also proprietor of the White Anchor Inn and Bait & Tackle Shop, and he operated the Southport Island swing bridge. Carl’s priorities were caring for his family and community, and he was most passionate about sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with younger generations. He served as a Jaycee and taught firearm safety in Guilford, taught youth skiing in Greenville, proudly sponsored the Boothbay Region Fish & Game Association’s youth fishing tournament, served as president of the Back Eighty Homeowners Association, and volunteered with the Boothbay Woodchucks, an organization that provides firewood to those in need.  

Carl is survived by his wife, Donna, of Boothbay; his daughter, Susan, and her husband, Mike Wilusz, of Niskayuna, New York; his son, David, of Boothbay; his sister, Charlotte Jones and her husband, Bob, of Sanford; his sister, Barbara, of Melbourne, Florida; his brother-in-law, Dennis Chadbourne, of Gorham; and several nieces and nephews.  

The family is deeply grateful to the exceptional team at Maine Medical Center’s SCU4 for the compassionate care they provided Carl.  

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8 from 1 to 2 p.m., with a memorial service starting at 2 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay.
