News and notes from the Community Center
New fresh vegetables will start arriving on Friday. The veggies are very generously donated by Town Village Foodbank Farm and Veggies to Table. Get your bag ready to bring over on Fridays during the summer!
We are also starting a new project – Fill the New Red Wagon with groceries for the Community Fridge! The Red Wagon will be outside The Community Center, Monday through Friday. Please feel free to contribute any food or pantry item for those in need. We will put up flyers with desired items (from dairy products to deli meat, fruits, cereal, pasta, paper products, etc.) or you can go to the Community Resource Council website for suggestions. https://www.crcboothbay.org/community-fridge. Please do not leave any perishable items in the Red Wagon after 2 p.m. on Fridays.
We have begun our new season of our Lobster Raffle! A chance to win 10 Maine Lobsters which Atlantic Edge Lobster will donate. Yumm. Think: one ticket will buy you one chance to win 10 lobsters for $15, or three tickets for $30 to triple your chances to win 10 lobsters! Raffle tickets are available here at The Community Center during our hours of operations – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday thru Friday and also at the Farmers Market on the Common on Thursday mornings. Look for us in the gazebo! We will hold the drawing for the lobsters on July 2, at the Pie/Cake Bake Sale (see the next paragraph).
On July 2, The Community Center will hold a fundraising Pie/Cake Bake Sale outside in the parking lot of the Meadow Mall. We plan on having many pies, cakes, fudge, and other sweets available for sale. All proceeds will benefit The Community Center. Calories are nonexistent on July 2. I’m sure you will all have too many guests to feed over the 4th of July weekend, so this is a great time to stock up, and you will not have to clean up your kitchen!
Bethany Schmidt, our Tech Guru on loan from the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library will be here on Tuesday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to noon. Bring your device questions!
