June 29, 2024 commemorated 73 years of marriage between Barbara Murphy McLellan and Myron McLellan.

They met as teens growing up in Boothbay. Myron would court Barbara by either hitching a ride up Knickerbocker Road to Murphys Point on the end of Back River Road or  navigating the waters of the Sheepscot River in his skiff. They married in a simple family ceremony on the lawn of his parents home at Knickerbocker in Trevett on June 29, 1952. 

This union produced five children, Margaret, Elizabeth, Ruth, Cameron and Shawn.

Myron, always being the visionary, and Barbara and the kids being his motivation, through hard work and risk taking, they have always lived a life full of fun, adventure and success. They were always up for TransCanadian drives to British Columbia and Washington, Weekend trips to New York City to shop, see the Christmas lights and enjoy the finest restaurants (always with five kids in tow) or borrowing the yacht, America, for family sailing excursions.

Myron's professional life, up until he retired at 80, was spent on the water as a commercial fisherman. Barbara owned and operated one of the first bed and breakfast inns in the region (The Knickerbocker Inn).

Life has slowed down and Barbara and Myron are spending their "slowed down" years at their home at the bridge on Hodgdon Island and enjoy visits of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren most days. If you see them out and about, wish them a Happy Anniversary and hopes for many more.
