Hot enough for you … try the upstairs Barn Flea Market. That sure is not. A big thank you to Cathy Fisher, Deb Graves and their crew who unpack boxes, clean shelves and are there, upstairs in the heat every Saturday. Yet, despite the heat and the crowds (so busy lately, they are wisely limiting upstairs access) they are hanging in, having fun and ever so wisely taking more time to test the odd assortment of chairs.  Thank you Rotary Barn Flea Market crew.

Last Thursday we welcomed Ruth Monsell, author of  “Frances Perkins: Champion of American Workers.” What an amazing person Frances Perkins was. As Secretary of Labor for President Franklin Roosevelt she literally changed the life of most Americans by designing and promoting the Social Security Act of 1933 along with minimum wage standards, child labor laws and more. Ruth Monsell is an engaging speaker passionate about sharing the story of Frances Perkins.

Rotary People Power needs you. Like Charlotte always says “People, People who need People.” Sign up often, you'll be glad you did. You can sign up right here, where it says “People Power.” Amazing, eh!

This Thursday we will hear a “Classification Talk” by newish member Doug Lockwood. He has worn many professional hats, but on retirement explored a passion for basket making. Our 50/50 basket was donated by Doug and is an example of his talent. Looking forward to hearing more about Doug's life and what interested him in Rotary.

The Rotary Barn is open every Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m., selling gently used furniture, tools, household goods, boats, you name it.  We are accepting donations, just text or call 207-619-1417 for pickup or drop off plans.

If you're interested in the fun and work of Rotary, join us every Thursday at 6 p.m. for a dinner meeting.  You'll be glad you did.
