Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey will deliver the keynote address for the Lincoln County Democratic Committee’s (LCDC) Family Fun Day Lobster Bake at Waldoboro’s Cider Hill Farm, Sunday, Aug. 4. Frey will join Democratic candidates and other elected officials in the annual gathering under the Democratic big tent. 

“We are delighted that Attorney General Frey will be able to join us for the afternoon,” said Keith Mestrich, vice chair of LCDC. “He and the Governor have worked hand-in-hand for the past six years to guarantee basic rights for all Mainers and are pushing back on lawsuits from outside states, such as Texas, that want to interfere with the way we live our lives.”

Frey was born in Bangor, grew up in Dixmont, and graduated from Nokomis High School. He earned a bachelor of arts from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire and juris doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law in Rhode Island. Prior to being elected Maine’s 58th Attorney General, he worked in a private legal practice in Bangor, focusing on criminal defense and family law. He also represented part of Bangor and part of Orono for three terms in the Maine House of Representatives from 2012 to 2018. In the legislature, he was a member of the Legislature’s Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee.

“As always, we’re going to have a wonderful turnout of local Democratic candidates and elected officials,” offered Geoff Bates, organizer of the event. “The afternoon provides a chance for anyone who attends to interact on a one-to-one basis with their legislators, candidates for office, and county commissioners.”

In addition to Frey, Senate Majority Leader Eloise Vitelli (SD 48) is also scheduled to attend along with Sen. Cameron Reny (SD 13), Rep. Lydia Crafts (HD 46), and Rep. Holly Stover (HD 48), who are all running for re-election.

“We’re looking forward to hearing from some new faces this year,” added Bates, who noted, “Candidates Denise Tepler (SD 48), Wayne Farrin (HD 47), and Pam Swift (HD 62) also plan to attend.”

The Family Fun Day Lobster Bake is open to the public. The afternoon begins with a social hour followed by dinner at 1 p.m. Short speeches by candidates, representatives in government and special guests follow.

The LCDC uses the money it raises through this and other fundraising initiatives to support its local efforts in Lincoln County.
