Ocean Point Column: Busy week past and more ahead
Wow, we have certainly experienced some of the best weather of the summer this past week, let’s hope it continues.
There are many to thank for last week’s activities. Among them are China McHold who presented interesting and important information on depression and anxiety.
Thanks to Annie (Fischer) Berg for the kids’ movie night and Jeff Slayton for organizing the all-important CPR training with the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service. Later that evening Donna Logan hosted ladies Bunco, which is always a fun night so thank you to her for organizing.
Thank you to the Aquarium and Dottie Younger for arranging a field trip for Ocean Pointers. I understand all who attended thoroughly enjoyed touring the new facility.
Mike Anderson organized the Ocean Point Memorial Golf Tournament again this year. The results are as follows: the team of Mike Anderson, Matt Lindley, Jack Chambers and Will Bertrand were the winners, longest drive was Lisa Klumb for the women and Robert Dana for the men, closest to the pin for the women was Lisa Klumb and for the men Randy Haist. Everyone enjoyed lunch and the awarding of prizes after the tournament. Thank you to Mike Anderson and the Boothbay Harbor Country Club for arranging a great day.

The results of this tournament include: 1st place winners were Matt Birmingham and Neal Anderson, 2nd place was Hayden Sakow and Tyler Tracy, and 3rd place was Ocean Pointers Mike Rush and Jefferson Driscoll.
After the tournament many enjoyed some delicious chicken thanks to the organization of Matt Lindley and Paul Taylor. JD Hankinson and Ken Schroeder headed the pit crew with some assistance from Gerry Hankinson. The kitchen crew included Kathy Lindley and Barb Yahn. Thank you to all and to all who supported the event.

One note of interest concerns Kim Krueger’s craft project scheduled for Wednesday afternoon July 24; unfortunately this event has been cancelled. However, a triples tennis activity has been added to the calendar that evening at 5 for all ages, come out and join in the fun.
Bigelow Lab will visit the Casino on Thursday night, July 25 beginning at 6:30. Please note this is a time change from the original time of 7. They are bringing a touch tank which I’m sure will be a hit with the kids. Don’t miss this interesting and informative presentation and learn what Bigelow Lab is doing to keep our waters clean and safe.
The Maine Seacoast Mission will conduct Sunday services on July 28 at 9:30. After services they will provide a tour of their vessel Sunbeam V along with refreshments. Shuttle service will be provided from the Ocean Point dock.
