Daniel Gene Bryer, age 70, of Boothbay passed away Aug. 2, 2024.

Born on July 20, 1954 in Boothbay Harbor, Daniel’s life was marked by a profound dedication to his craft and deep love of his family and community.

Daniel spent his early years attending schools in East Boothbay and Boothbay Center, eventually studying at Boothbay Region High School.

His career was robust and varied, beginning with working for his grandfather, Lermond Giles, in excavation. He honed his skills in local shipyards and at Bath Iron Works before transitioning to carpentry with local builders.

For the last 30 years, Daniel was the proud owner of D.G. Bryer Building and Remodeling. In his later years, he expanded his business to include excavation work, driven by his passion for perfection in every project he undertook.

Beyond his professional life, Daniel was a fervent admirer of John Wayne, watching his films repeatedly and drawing inspiration from his performances. His musical tastes were anchored by a deep appreciation for Stevie Ray Vaughn, whose performances he enjoyed through You Tube music videos. Daniel was incredibly creative, often engaged in various projects around his home, which brought him much joy and satisfaction. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and going on bike runs with his friends.

Daniel’s life was enriched by his loving family and a wide circle of friends.

He is survived by his partner, Debbie Wickert; his sister, Shani Bryer; his children, Daniel Bryer Jr. and his wife Kara, and Katie Jean Wimbish and her husband Roy; his stepson, Jacob Wickert and partner Kim. Known affectionately as “Bampy,” he cherished moments with his grandchildren, Abel, Graham, Jacob, Harper Jean and Isla. His life was also touched by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his childhood friend, Maurice Hyson.

Daniel was predeceased by his father, Gordon Bryer; mother Priscilla Giles Bryer; twin brother Donald Giles Bryer; and half brothers Gordon Bryer Jr. and Francis Colby.

A celebration of Daniel’s life will be announced at a later time, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and legacy. His life’s work and devotion to loved ones will forever be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
