News and notes from the Community Center
Wow! The weather gods are behaving! What a beautiful weekend we had last weekend! Gotta keep our fingers crossed for this coming week. May have a few sprinkles, but still nice late summer weather! Now’s the time to get out and play. Keep it up.
The Lobster Raffle will end on Friday this week, and a new winner will be drawn from the sold tickets. If you still want a chance to win 10 live lobsters, come in to The Community Center or the Farmers Market at the Common on Thursday or Friday morning to select the winning ticket!
Fraud! Scam! Ouch! The Community Center, along with Bath Savings Bank, is offering a free Fraud Prevention Seminar on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. As we all know, scammers are getting creative and pervasive.
And here is some advance planning. Judy Milinowski will bring her QiJong class back to The Community Center this fall when the weather turns chillier. In the meantime, Judy is teaching her class outside at Spruce Point Inn on Monday and Friday mornings from 11 a.m. to noon. Come join her!
Now on a sad note, The Community Center is looking for my replacement. I am retiring at the end of August well after Uncle Sam says I am able retire. We are looking for someone who is organized and can find their way around a computer (Word, Excel, etc.), our website, social media, and be a welcoming face at The Community Center for four hours per day. Please call 633-9876 or send an email to communitycenterofbbr.org.
Last, but certainly not least, fresh vegetables arrive every Friday morning (and sometimes on Monday morning) during the summertime. The veggies are very generously donated by Town Village Foodbank Farm and Veggies to Table. Get your bag ready to bring over on Mondays (sometimes) and Friday mornings until 2 p.m. during the summer!
