Ocean Point Column: Pasta dinner, the most beautiful day, and more
It’s official; our summer activity season has ended. I can say with absolute certainty that it ended in the most wonderful way. Ocean Point friends gathered together last Monday evening to enjoy a scrumptious pasta dinner prepared by Chef Kelly Farrin and his staff. Joining Kelly in the preparation of the dinner were Kelly’s wife Marcy and Jim Millin, Nick Ripley and fiancé Michelle Barter, Pete and Mary Ripley, Brion
Friedman and his wife Deirdre Lavieri, Maddie, Izzy and Gabe Andreason, Will Sledge and Miles Murray. Thank you all for an amazing meal.\
In my eyes, Saturday Aug. 24 was the best day of the summer in several ways; the weather could not have been more perfect not only for those vacationing but also for a very special couple. Elizabeth Dana and Michael Slayton exchanged wedding vows by the ocean on a spectacular “Ocean Point day” surrounded by their families and many friends. Their story is quite special as they were childhood friends growing up living next door to each other at Ocean Point, went off to college and years later fell in love and became a couple. Congratulations to Elizabeth and Michael as you begin a new and exciting chapter in your lives.
Other exciting news in the Slayton Family is the launching of a new book by Lisa Slayton and Michaela O’Donnell titled,” Life in Flux,” Navigational Skills to Guide and Ground you in an Ever Changing World. The book teaches the skills necessary to navigate through continuous change in our lives. The book has already received great reviews by several professional individuals. I am currently reading Lisa’s book and gaining solid information on how to navigate through my own changes. Lisa’s book is available for purchase on Amazon or by contacting her directly at LinkedIn.com/in/Lisa-Slayton-015aa01/ or Instagram @LobsterLisa.\
After a busy weekend of foot and vehicle traffic the Point has quieted down considerably. Many of our young residents have left for the start of school and many boat moorings are empty.
The Casino will remain open for another week with pickleball, tennis and kids evening games still planned. Hopefully we will squeeze in one last softball game too.\
Enjoy the last of August and safe travels over the holiday weekend. Have a great day!
