Youth group holds FASCAR kickoff
The Olympians youth group at Boothbay Baptist Church held its kickoff event, the FASCAR rally, on Wednesday, Oct. 2 with 70 attending and racing Matchbox cars on a computerized track for prizes.
Grand Champion for the evening of races was Maria Michael, daughter of Sam and Margaret Michael of Boothbay. Maria also won a first place trophy for her age group, grades 1-2, in the Challenger division. Placing second was Charlie Fuchswanz and third was Simeon Bates.
First-place trophy winner in the Conquerors division (grades 3-4) was Jason Michael; second was Ava Schlosser, and third was Hannah Roberts.
In the Champions division (grades 5-6) Bailey Maguire took home the trophy, with Michael Cusumano placing second and John Michael Roberts taking third.
In the Open Class, Jaidan Schlosser finished first, followed by Jude Simon and Vanessa Simon.
The second and third-place finishers won medals, and ribbons were given out to toddlers who also participated in the fun.
Olympians youth group, for kids in grades 1-6, will begin next Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, at 6:15 p.m.
Olympians is a Word of Life ministry for children, led by adult volunteers, which meets weekly and includes Bible lessons, games, snacks, music, friendly competition and occasional service projects.
The Word of Life Teens will start to meet on October 16 as well, at 6:30 p.m., at Boothbay Baptist Church. All are welcome.
