Lady Seahawks shut out by Bulldogs
The Boothbay Region High School girls soccer team faced two of the toughest teams in the league, Hall-Dale (7-1-1) and Madison (8-1-1). Although they kept up a strong fight, the Lady Seahawks lost both games to both Bulldogs teams.
Hall-Dale 9, Boothbay 0
Boothbay was no match for the veteran Hall-Dale squad, who maneuvered the ball effortlessly around the Lady Seahawks defense in Farmingdale on October 3. Jamie Wheeler made 13 saves for Boothbay.
The Lady Seahawks only had 6 shot on goal, all from Sinead Miller. Scoring for Hall-Dale were Maura Stottler, Thea Sweet Andrea Fredericks and Asia DiBenedetti.
“Despite the quick pace of the game, my girls never gave up and played hard until the last seconds of the game,” said Boothbay coach Kim Dionne.
Madison 8, Boothbay 0
Boothbay managed to hold the top ranked Bulldogs to just 2 goals in the first half on October 7. But in the second half, the rainy weather and fatigue got the best of Boothbay as Madison's Whitney Lloyd opened up a shooting range.
Lloyd knocked in 4 goals, Madeline Wood added two more goals, and Kayla Bess and Emily Oliver also chipped in points to secure the win over Boothbay.
Wheeler grabbed 10 saves in the net for Boothbay. While Boothbay was able to get good looks on offense, they were not able to convert any of them to goals.
The Lady Seahawks (0-9-1) will travel to Rumford to take on Mountain Valley (1-8-0) on Thursday, Oct 10. Boothbay will host the Oak Hill Raiders (4-5-1) on Monday, Oct. 14.
