Wildcats set records in home meet
Boothbay Region Elementary School runners Kyle Ames and Faith Blethen set course records on BRES's 2.33-mile course at a meet held October 3, but the Wildcat boys and girls teams each finished second behind Camden.
Ames finished with a time of 14:27, about 30 seconds ahead of runner-up Simon Fedarko of Camden (14:56). Cooper Russell of Camden (15:02) finished third.
Blethen (15:55) finished just over a minute ahead of runner-up Audrey Bowman of Camden (16:58). Finishing in third was Wildcat Helen Hamblett at 17:17.
Team scores were: boys, Camden 22, BRES 49, Belfast 73, Searsport 107; girls, Camden 29, BRES 43, Belfast 90. The Searsport girls team and the Oceanside and Isleboro boys and girls teams didn't have enough runners to score.
Boothbay boys finishing behind Ames included: Blake Erhard, fourth (15:03); Rowan Kristan, eighth (16:00); Jay Hasch, 18th (16:54); Brett Hollowell, 23rd (17:34), Will Labrecque, Colin Campbell, Graham Bryer, Will Berry, Tim Chapelle, Will Perkins, Ethan Barter, Bayly Carrasco Gaughan, Sam Burnham, Ellison Boord, Mitchell Partner and Zach Goodwin. A total of 69 boys competed.
Wildcats girls finishing behind Blethen and Hamblett included: Ellie Hilscher, eighth (18:26); Lincoln Hamblett, 16th (19:19), Loren Genrich, 17th (19:30); Ashley Ames, Ella Yentsch and Addie Stone. A total of 39 girls competed.
