‘Round Town: Week of November 10
Last week was quite a whirlwind.
Boothbay rejected the TIF, Wiscasset voted to withdraw from RSU 12 and Maine voters en masse approved $150 million in bonds.
Our own Executive Editor Joe Gelarden decided to step back from the paper’s helm and enjoy a fourth retirement.
Thankfully, he’ll still be writing his weekly editorial and other articles in his new role as editor-at-large.
Speaking of editorials, did you catch Editor Emerita Mary Brewer’s piece about the old Sears and Roebuck catalog? Fascinating stuff.
On Sunday, Nov. 10, there’s an American Legion public breakfast at the Post Hall on Industrial Park Road in Boothbay from 7-9:30 a.m.
Do you have a loved one who served or is serving in the military? Take a minute to thank him or her this Veterans Day.
Veterans and their families should stop by the Southport Memorial Library on Monday, Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m. for a Veterans Day service with refreshments.
On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Wiscasset townsfolk will gather from 6 to 8 p.m. at 36 Water Street to talk about what they want downtown Wiscasset to look like.
Get outdoors on Wednesday, Nov. 13 with the weekly Boothbay Region Land Trust ‘Wednesday Walkers’ group. This week they’ll do the new Pine Tree Preserve. Call 207-633-4818 for more info.
On Thursday, Nov. 14, Maine artist and children's author Dahlov Ipcar will be at Mid Coast Hospital for a book signing, 10 a.m. to noon in the MCH Café Corridor.
