What will become of Windjammer Days?
The future of Windjammer Days will be discussed at 5 p.m. at McSeagull's restaurant in Boothbay Harbor on November 8. All are welcome to attend.
Mark Gimbel will lead the discussion to decide if a nonprofit group should take over the management of the Windjammer Days festival.
On October 30, the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce announced that the organization would no longer be sponsoring Windjammer Days. Business owners and residents have been concerned that the region's flagship summer festival will be jeopardized.
Mark and Dianne Gimbel, Andy Luke and Peter Ripley have formed a committee to address the issues and options available, and to see whether the Chamber's Board of Directors should be asked to rescind their decision to outsource the event.
Dianne Gimbel said anyone who is interested or wants to share their input should come to the meeting.
