BRHS 1958 football team to be inducted
The Mid-Coast Hall of Fame is pleased to announce that the 1958 football team is being recognized as an outstanding team at the 2024 banquet on Oct. 19.
The 1958 football team with the first state championship team in Boothbay Region High School’s history, going 8
- 0 and outscoring their opponents by a margin of 294 to 6. In addition to being the Class D State Champions, they were also the Kennebec Valley Conference Champions and still hold the school record for fewest points allowed in a season.
Coached by Blaine Trafton and led by players such as Robert Rice, Don Soler, Alden Jordan and an outstanding offensive line, this team won the first game of the season in a close contest, 7-6 over Winthrop, and then did not
allow another point to be scored for the remainder of the season.
