A grand event for Memorial Library
Dear Editor:
On Sept. 28, Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library (BHML) threw a spectacular fundraiser to benefit the Library’s operating fund. In celebration of BHML’s centennial, this inaugural Storybook Ball was themed to “The Great Gatsby,” an American classic by F. Scott Fitzgerald set in the roaring twenties, and published one year after BHML opened its doors at 4 Oak Street. As a local non-profit, our Library relies greatly on individual donations and fundraising to maintain and grow operations. This event raised $21,700 to support the critical library services BHML offers to our community!
Over 20 years ago, my first experiences at BHML centered around the wonderful children’s programs I attended with my young kids. It became a place where we could connect with others and participate in events and workshops. As a proud library patron, I’ve been fortunate to access a vast array of resources and programs, witnessing firsthand how BHML empowers people of all ages with tools for learning and growth.
The Storybook Ball beautifully highlighted how our library serves as the heart of our community. I encourage everyone to visit this gem in the center of Boothbay Harbor and discover the magic it holds.
