Seahawks bounce back
One night after suffering a very tough opening game defeat, the Seahawks again jumped out to an early lead but this time held on with a 52-39 win at Lisbon on Thursday night.
John Hepburn poured in 24 points to lead the Seahawks, with five of his points coming in the first minute to lead Boothbay to a 7-0 start. Nick Kilgus added two of his three three-pointers on the night in the first period as the junior guard finished with 11 points.
After scoring 21points in the first quarter, the Seahawks fumbled their way to just seven points in the second frame while Lisbon chopped the visitors' lead to just four heading into the break.
The host Greyhounds would get as close as eight early in the fourth quarter but an offensive rebound hoop by Abel Bryer for the Seahawks, followed by a Kilgus three-pointer, pushed the lead back to 13.
Senior Andrew Hallinan also finished with 11 points, all from the paint or the line.
The junior varsity boys opened their season with a 52-26 victory over Lisbon.
