With the window closing for USA Today's Best High School Boys Basketball Coach online voting, Boothbay Region High School's I.J. Pinkham has slipped into second place behind Northwest Catholic (Hartford, Conn.) Coach John Mirabello.

The race for the Northeast Division/Region 1 crown has narrowed to percentage points between the top two.

As of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Mirabello held a slight lead; 47.287 percent to Pinkham's 47.259 percent.

The voting will wrap up Thursday, Jan. 30.

Mirabello has had momentum on his side, as he went from down five percentage points (46 to 41 percent) as recently as January 23.

Region 1 includes all the New England states plus New York.
