Boothbay's Lady Seahawks soccer team won its first game of the season against Winthrop's Lady Ramblers, 5-0, at home on September 10. Mikayla McFetridge, Abby McLellan, Evie Greenleaf were Boothbay captains.

Seahawk Abby McLellan scored four of the goals, two in each half of the game, and Sara Durgan scored in the first half.

Boothbay played strong and had 30 shots on goal while the Ramblers had 15, all saved by Boothbay goalie Mikayla McFetridge in her first shutout game. Ramblers goalie D. Pease had 25 saves. Other Seahawks shooting on goal for Boothbay were Monique Bertin, Hannah Winslow, Courtney Brewer and Dana Greenleaf.

“The team played an amazing game against Winthrop,” Coach Kate Hossler said.

Telstar

The Seahawks lost to Telstar's Lady Rebels, 3-2 in an away game on Friday, Sept. 7. McLellan scored both of Boothbay's goals. Lady Rebels R. Wheeler (2) and L. Monzo (1) scored for Telstar.

The teams were pretty evenly matched when it came to shots on goal with Boothbay at 14 and Telstar with 18. McFetridge saved 15 shots and Rebel C. Currier saved 12.

Seahawks with shots on goal, in addition to McLellan, were Monique Bertin and Courtney Brewer.

Spruce Mountain

The home game against Spruce Mountain's Lady Phoenix on September 6 was close and frustrating. For the Seahawks, it was their third loss of the season, 2-1.

“The girls had a devastating loss against Spruce Mountain. The Seahawks were down two goals going into the second half but came out strong, with Anna Baumm scoring for Boothbay,” Hossler said. “The Seahawks almost tied it up at the end, but unfortunately were not able to hit the net a second time. Mikayla McFetridge was once again a force to be reckoned with in the goal, saving 21 shots. Brenna Alley also charged into the net to save a shot.”

Boothbay had five shots on goal by Baumm, McLellan and Courtney Brewer. Spruce Mountain had 22 shots on goal. Lady Phoenix H. Doyen scored both of her team's goals.

E. Keene had three saves for Spruce Mountain.
