Boy Scouts earn shotgun and rifle shooting merit badges
Boy Scout Troop 238 held its Spring Camporee at the Boothbay Region Fish and Game Club this past weekend.
Despite the rain, it was an eventful weekend, with the Scouts receiving compass instruction from Joel Peaslee; learning what it takes to be a United States Army Ranger from Captain David Witt; earning their Shotgun and Rifle Shooting Merit Badges from NRA Certified instructor, Carl Murphy of Murph's Gunsmithing as well as instruction on shooting a muzzle-loading rifle; a lesson on freshwater fishing from Captain Barry Gibson, and some fishing off the dock on Wylie Pond to round out the event.
The troop would like to thank Scott Campbell for the use of his shotgun for skeet shooting, Jerry McGrail for the use of his .22 rifle, and Joel Peaslee for the use of his .22 rifle, and the Boothbay Region Fish and Game Club for the use of their facility.
A good time was had by all.
