Shut out by Wiscasset and Lisbon
The Lady Seahawks soccer team suffered a shut-out game against Wiscasset's Lady Wolverines on September 17, 6-0.
Played under the lights on Sherman Field, the Seahawks tried to maintain control of the ball but could not break the Wolverines' tight offense and middle fielders. Boothbay had only 12 shots on goal; Wiscasset had a whopping 28.
Mikayla “the force to be reckoned with” McFetridge prevented 25 attempts on goal while Wiscasset goalie Kayla Gordon had 12.
Boothbay had 12 shots on goal, Wiscasset had 28.
Scoring for the Wolverines were: Kasey Cromwell (2), Shania Marr, Sarah Hanley (2), Maddy Wehrle.
“Despite the loss, the Seahawks showed outstanding effort against Wiscasset during the first half,” Coach Kate Hossler said. “Shots on goal were made by Abby McLellan, Courtney Brewer, Monique Bertin, Sara Durgan and Sinead Miller.”
Lisbon
The September 12 home game against Lisbon's Lady Greyhounds ended in another loss for the Lady Seahawks soccer team, 5-2.
Seahawk Abby McLellan scored the team's two goals in the second half.
The Greyhounds scored three times in the first half: goals by K. Angelico, L. Grant and R. Ball; and twice in the second, both times by Angelico.
Boothbay goalie McKayla McFetridge prevented 17 attempts on goal while Lisbon goalie C. Martel had only 7 to stop. Boothbay had 11 shots on goal; Lisbon had 30.
The Seahawks will now prepare for their homecoming game against Madison on Friday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m and an away game against Hall-Dale on Monday, Sept. 24.
