Single car roll-over on Southport
A Southport man was injured after his Toyota Highlander rolled over on Route 27 in Southport on Friday, May 30, around 9 a.m.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff Deputy Kenneth Hatch, Dan Caputo was traveling south on Route 27 near the Southport Town Hall when the accident occurred. Boothbay Region Ambulance Service attendants arrived shortly after the accident, and Southport Fire Chief Gerry Gamage said Caputo suffered a head laceration.
The BRAS ambulance transported Caputo to LincolnHealth-Miles Campus in Damariscotta for treatment.
"I haven't talked with him, (Caputo) but he told ambulance attendants that another vehicle was coming at him and he swerved to avoid it. He apparently hit an incline and the vehicle tipped over," Hatch said.
Emergency responders had to work at freeing Caputo from the vehicle as the doors were damaged in the accident.
Also responding were Boothbay Harbor Police Chief Bob Hasch and several Boothbay firefighters.
The scene was cleared within an hour after G & G Towing towed the Highlander away.
