Sailing team places third in Blue and Yellow Regatta
The Boothbay Region High School Club Sailing team was able to wrangle strong winds and claim a third-place finish during the September 15 Blue and Yellow Regatta, hosted by Falmouth High School.
Boothbay’s A and B teams combined to score 122 points, which was 13 better than fourth-place Portland, which finished with 135. Duxbury (69) and host Falmouth (77) were the only two teams with better combined scores than Boothbay.
Boothbay’s A Division, which consisted of skipper Myron Hahn and crewman Sherm Brewer finished in third place with a total of 48 points. The B Division, with skipper Jessica Murphy and crewman Ben Betts, finished in fourth place with 74 points.
On September 23, the Boothbay Sailing Club competed in the Start Your Engines Regatta hosted by Cape Elizabeth. Boothbay finished with 88 points, good enough to snag ninth place.
Falmouth took home first place with a combined team score of 39 points. Duxbury (57) and Mount Desert Island (71) rounded-out the top three.
Boothbay finished fourth in the A Division with 30 points. Boothbay’s B Division team finished 10th with 58 points.
The team is scheduled to sail in this Saturday’s Show Up and Sail regatta in Rockland and Sunday’s Blue Wave (junior varsity) Regatta in Portland.
