Juniors feted at BHYC annual awards banquet
The Junior program of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club held its annual awards banquet on Monday night, August 18.
Over 100 young people and their parents gathered to share in a meal, awards to many, and a photo review of the past season.
Emma VanderVeen of Spruce Point received the Past Commodore James Bowden Award for outstanding performance in sailing. Shepard Smith was the recipient of the Meagan McLaughlin Tennis Award.
Parker Elkins of Edgecomb was awarded the Patsy Stevens Award for the most helpful junior and Caroline Hunt of Pinecliff, Southport received the Past Commodore Byron T. Atwood Sportsmanship Award. The Past Commodore John West award for best crew was awarded to Caleb Gray, and the Past Commodore Rudolph Geiger Award for best Skipper went to Aidan Clark.
Larry Rioux, head of the Tennis Program presented awards to his “Team” and Capt. Sally Lloyd Director of the Junior Sailing program presented Sailing Awards and produced the video presentation, which was enjoyed by all.
