Maine Artists

Floral artwork exhibition

Tue, 10/02/2012 - 9:00am

Currently on exhibition at the First Federal Savings and Loan in Boothbay Harbor is an assortment of varied and wonderful floral art works by Sue Heil Kibbe, whose works may be seen through October.  Ranging from “Boothbay Region Botanical Gardens” in oil to “Clearing Sky” in watercolor and “Lupine Colors” in pastel, Kibbe has exhibited ten romantic and endearing paintings that leave you wishing there were more to see.

A resident of Southport since 1998 and a lifelong advocate of the coast of Maine since her first visits to her grandparents’ summer house as a child, Kibbe has pursued her artistic license in virtually every media, while painting and teaching with a specialty in portraiture.

A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art and Western Reserve University, she is an active member of the Portrait Society of America, the American Society of Marine Artists, The Pastel Painters of Maine, the Plein Art Painters of Maine and serves on the board of the Boothbay Region Art Foundation.

Kibbe’s philosophy toward painting is summed up in her words, “The more you experience the thrill of painting from life, the more addicted you become.  I try to let my enthusiasm translate into both my painting and teaching.”

The exhibition is sponsored by the Boothbay Region Art Foundation and the First Federal Savings and Loan, and may be viewed during business hours at the First Federal on Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor through September and October.
