Boothbay edges Dirigo, 1-0
A late goal by freshman Jo Shaw gave the Boothbay Region High School field hockey team a 1-0 victory over Dirigo High School in Dixfield on Monday afternoon, Sept. 15.
Boothbay (2-2-1) was playing its third game in four days, after playing a double overtime game at home on Friday and a game at Lisbon on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
Shaw’s goal came at the 3:24 mark of the second half.
“There was a flurry of action in front of the net, the ball popped out and Jo was there to put in the cage,” said Seahawk coach Donna Jordan. “Erica Eames (goalie) got her first shutout of the season.”
Boothbay led Dirigo in shots on goal, 17 to 11.
The Seahawks also won the junior varsity game, 1-0.
Boothbay will next host a good Oak Hill team on Friday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. at Perkins Field.
