Seahawks defeat Hall-Dale, lose to Winthrop
The Lady Seahawks field hockey team closed out the regular season at home on Tuesday, losing a hard-fought game, 2-0, to Winthrop.
The loss dropped Boothbay to 3-11 on the season. If the tournament standings hold in Eastern Maine Class C, Boothbay, ranked 7th, would travel to second-seeded Winthrop for a quarterfinal playoff game (date to be announced). Boothbay lost to Winthrop in the quarterfinals last year.
Cat Ouellette gave Winthrop a 1-0 lead at the 8:36 mark of the first half. The visitors' second goal didn't come until late in the second half, as Emma Spahr scored with 7:11 remaining.
At Hall-Dale on Friday, the Lady Seahawks returned home with a 2-1 victory. Brooke Alley and Arden McSwain scored for Boothbay while Nicole Pelletier got the Bulldogs' only goal.
Last week, the Lady Seahawks lost at home, 4-1, to Oak Hill, with Alex Clarke getting Boothbay's only goal, and at Spruce Mountain, 8-0.
