Six Seahawks earn First Team MVC honors
Six Boothbay Region High School fall athletes earned first team all Mountain Valley Conference and boys cross country coach Nick Scott was named coach of the year. Those athletes receiving first teams honors were Taylor Walby, field hockey; Howie Carter, football, Joey Paolillo, cross country; Kyle Ames, cross country; Kyle Alamo, cross country; and Hannah Morley, cross country.
Athletic Director Allan Crocker, at the school’s annual Fall Sports Banquet on Nov. 5, presented the first team all-conference players with a certificate and Nick Scott with a plaque. Scott was named one of the 25 Most Inspiring Coaches Coaches in the Country by Brooks Running.
“It is an honor not only to have one of the best coaches in the state, but the entire country,” Crocker said.
Boothbay Region has six athletes named to the second team and five honorable mentions for all-conference honors. The second team members were Sydney Meader, field hockey; Morgan Crocker, cross country; Lincoln Hamblett, cross country; Kyler Carty, cross country; Trystan Mercier, cross country; and Matt Burnham, cross country.
Honorable Mention recipients were Erica Eames, field hockey; Genevieve Taylor, cross country; Kate Friant, cross country; Morgen Wilson, cross country; and Shane Johnson, cross country.
Five Seahawks were named to the All-Academic Team. Mountain Valley Conference athletes need to be an honor student and compete at the varsity level for eligibility. The student-athletes selected were Courtney Brewer, soccer; Sinead Miller, soccer; Nicole LaBrecque, field hockey; Maya Schwehm, cross country; and Kyle Alamo, cross country.
