Boothbay girls handle Madison, 56-41
A tough defense and 15 points each from senior Morgan Crocker and sophomore Cagney O’Brien led the Lady Seahawks to a 56-41 win over the visiting Madison Bulldogs Saturday, Dec. 13.
Boothbay trailed 15-14 after one quarter, but only allowed Madison to score 17 points in the second half to notch its second victory (2-0) of the young season. Madison dropped to 2-2.
Madison did close to within one possession of tying the game at the 5:38 mark of the fourth quarter, 41-38, but O’Brien hit a three-pointer and Boothbay shot 8 of 9 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Freshman Page Brown added eight points for Boothbay.
Kayla Bess led Madison with 14 points, followed by Madeline Wood with 11 and Erin Whalen with 10.
Boothbay will host Wiscasset Monday night in a make-up game from Dec. 6.
