Wrestling improves dual meet record to 3-2
It seemed the Boothbay Region High School’s wrestling team hardly broke a sweat on Dec. 20 in defeating Monmouth Academy and Wiscasset High School.
BRHS won six matches by forfeit against Wiscasset and three more against host Monmouth; and defeated both opponents in Monmouth to improve its season record to 3-2.
The Seahawks defeated Monmouth Academy 33-30.
Boothbay wrestlers Draco Peaslee (145) and Jeremiah Lucas (285) won by pins, and Howie Carter (160) earned victory by decision. Seahawks earning victories by forfeit over Monmouth were Dylan Peters, Brandon Andrews and Antonio Maulolo.
Against Wiscasset, only two matches were held. Boothbay Region won 48-24. Seahawk Draco Peaslee pinned Wiscasset wrestler Sam Strozier in the 145-pound division. And Wolverine Tyler Flavin pinned Seahawk Nick Labonte in a 120-pound match.
Seahawk wrestlers J.J. Littlefield, Dylan Peters, Kaitlin Daku, Brandon Andrews, Howie Carter, Antonio Maulolo and Jeremiah Lucas all received victory by forfeit over Wiscasset.
On Dec. 17, Boothbay Region competed in a meet in Wales against host Oak Hill, Dirigo of Dixfield and Mountain Valley of Rumford. The Seahawks defeated Oak Hill 36-30, but lost the other two matchups.
Against Dirigo, Carter, Maulolo and Lucas all won by pin.
Against Mountain Valley, Carter won by pin while Maulolo and Littlefield collected wins by forfeit.
And against Oak HIll, Boothbay Region won, 36-30. Daku and Carter pinned their opponents. Seahawk wrestlers Peaslee, Andrews, Maulolo and Lucas all won by forfeit.
Boothbay Region’s next wrestling meet is Saturday, Dec. 27 at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle.
