Seahawks get two easy wins
Playing just their second game in over two weeks, the Boothbay Region High School Seahawks varsity boys basketball team showed no signs of being rusty in a 79-33 victory at Oak Hill on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
With an 8-0 record entering a Wednesday night game with St. Dom's, the schedule is about to get a lot tougher in the next week as the Seahawks will head to Dirigo on Friday night and six days later have an appointment with second-seeded Winthrop.
At Oak Hill (2-7), Boothbay jumped out to a 30-5 lead after one quarter and were never challenged. The Seahawks had four players in double figures, led by John Hepburn with 17, and followed by Abel Bryer with 12, and Evan Hepburn and Joseph DiMauro with 10 each.
Evan Boston and Connor Elwell scored eight points each for the Raiders.
At Lisbon on Dec. 30, Boothbay improved to 7-0 with a 20-point win, 57-37, over the Greyhounds (3-5).
Another strong first quarter gave Boothbay a 20-5 lead, which increased to 31-11 at the half. The Seahawks poured it on in the third quarter, outscoring the hosts, 23-7, and taking at 54-18 lead into the final eight minutes.
John Hepburn had 14 points and twin brother Evan added 13 to lead the Seahawks in scoring.
