The Public Theater will present The 24 Hour Plays: A Bennington Alumni Tribute to Nicky Martin, on Monday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. The benefit will bring Bennington College alumn, including Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe winners and nominees, together to write, cast, rehearse and present six one-act plays within a 24-hour period. The event kicks off the 20th anniversary season.
Participating alumni include actors Brooks Ashmanskas ’91, Tim Daly ’79, Peter Dinklage ’91, Joel Marsh Garland ’97, and Holland Taylor ’64, and writers Sofia Alvarez ’07, Mitchell Lichtenstein ’78, Jonathan Marc Sherman ’91 and Mae (Megan) Mitchell '10.
Proceeds will help establish an endowed scholarship at Bennington College in tribute to Tony-nominated and Obie Award–winning director and beloved former faculty member Nicky (Joel) Martin. Martin taught at Bennington College from 1984 through 1991.
“Establishing a scholarship in his name will be sure to inspire generations of future theater-makers as Nicky did for so many of his students throughout the years,” said Public Theater Associate Artistic Director Mandy Hackett.
