Many hands
Many hands have made light and quick work of some mighty important projects for the club in preparation for the 2013 season. Seen helping the Ghost cover the club's whalers and J-22 sailboats were PC Andy Matthews, PC Jim Sutton, and PC Louise Holmes. PC Tony O’Neil and Mimi took paint brushes in hand and gave new luster to the picnic tables by the galley. Trucker Maggie Newton helped to shuttle boats from the haul-out at Blake’s Boatyard.
We were saddened to hear of the passing of Charles “Chuck” Osborn last week. Our condolences to Betty.
The Junior Program Committee was pleased to present the nomination of Mary Lou Newstead to the board of the Junior Program Foundation. The recommendation was approved by the flags and forwarded to the foundation, who duly elected Mary Lou at their November 6 meeting. President Rob Wheeler welcomed Mary Lou and promptly named her secretary of the board. By-laws of the foundation call for two BHYC members and three members at large from the community. Foundation Treasurer, PC Tony O’Neil, is our other representative.
The Lunch Bunch will be meeting at The Center Café throughout the winter months. After talking with the owner, he agreed not to close on Wednesdays, and will stay open for us. So we are in hopes lots of ladies will take advantage of this nice place to have lunch.
Men’s luncheon is meeting Wednesdays also at Mr. C’s in the Harbor. All are welcome to this noontime event.
Don’t forget that next week, beginning November 15, is the first of the Winter Monthly reception series to be held at the home of Eric and Sandy Hakanson. Louise Holmes, who chairs the Cocktail Series year-round, is seeking hosts for the January, February, March and April events. Call or email her if you can step up to the plate and be a host. Past Commodore (how does that feel Marianne?) Marianne Reynolds will host the December event.
