The two-game winning streak came to an end as the Falcons of Mountain Valley shut out the Lady Seahawks, 15-0, in Rumford on Monday, May 4.
The Falcons (2-3) scored six runs in both the first and fourth innings.
Boothbay (2-3) will travel to Mt. Abram on Friday, May 8 after hosting Madison on Wednesday, May 6.
Following the team's first victory, Coach Heather O'Brien reflected on the softball program.
"I have always told the players that winning isn't everything, but finally, after over two years with no wins, the feeling yesterday was overwhelming as a coach. I have been working with most of these players since I started with the program two years ago. It has been a long, but positive, process with these girls. There is a lot of athletic talent on the team. Our challenge over the past two years has been learning and understanding the mental side of the game and being extremely tough defensively.
"We are one of the few team in the MVC that does not have a JV feeder program, so there players are facing tough teams where some practice the sport year round. These girls have worked hard in the gym, on the field and in the classroom to give themselves that win. I hope that there are more throughout the season. This is the best group of girls to coach as each an everyone of them works hard, has fun and respects one another win or lose."
