Charles Barclay named director of junior sailing programs
The Junior Program of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club has appointed Charles Barclay of Honolulu, Hawaii as director of its Junior Sailing Programs. Barclay comes to BHYC from his post as head coach of the Mid-Pacific Institute Sailing team where he taught and supervised 18 student athletes.
Barclay and his wife and two children will move to Maine for the summer in late May and will reside on the yacht club campus. Barclay holds a US Sailing Instructor Certificate Level I and 2 and a Race Coach Level 3 certificate. He is also a US Sailing certified judge and principal race officer.
A former commodore of the Hawaii Yacht Club, Barclay has run more than 100 regatta and other sailing events and has taught sailing in one design dingy, keelboat and offshore sailboats. He owns a Peterson 40 named Dealers Choice, a Herreshoff S-Boat ( Mokulele), and an El Toro, all of which he has raced and cruised in extensively.
In addition to his extensive sailing and racing career he was, for many years, a management analyst and consultant.
BHYC is thrilled to welcome Barclay and his family to the club and know that he will be a vital element in the Junior Program.
