BHYC Junior Program hold closing banquet
The Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Junior Program has completed its 2015 season. To celebrate the success of the season, a closing banquet was held last Friday night at the clubhouse with over 125 parents and young people in attendance. Larry Rioux, director of tennis, and Charles Barclay, director of sailing, introduced their staffs and they jointly presented the season’s awards.
In sailing for the morning program, the Most Improved Award went to Tyra Pranger, the Sportsmanship award wen to Della Hahn, and the Instructors Award to Cally Stephens. For the afternoon program, the Most Improved Award was awarded to Gabrielle Boord and the Seamanship Wward to Charlie Chappelle.
In the 420 Division, the Skippers award went to Aiden Clark with second place to Jax Van Der Veen and third to Hamilton Barclay. The 420 Crew Award was awarded to Caleb Gray with second place to Caroline Hunt and third to Oksana Omeltchenko. In the Opti Division, first place went to Emma Van Der Veen with Hamilton Barclay in second and Charlie Chappelle in third.
In the perpetual awards category, the following winners were announced: The Patsy Stevens Most Helpful award went to Delly Clarkson; The Past Commodore Byron Atwood award for Sportsmanship to Helmut Dungan; The Past Commodore John West award for Best Crew was awarded to Caleb Gray; The Past Commodore Rudolph Geiger Best Skipper award to Aiden Clark; and the James Bowden Outstanding performance Award to Aiden Clark.
