Oak Hill beats Boothbay Region, 42-13
The Boothbay Region football team’s losing streak continues, but the Seahawks snapped their scoreless streak. Boothbay Region scored two first-half touchdowns during the team’s 42-13 loss to Oak Hill Sept. 21 at Sherman Field.
The two-team defending state champion Oak Hill Raiders scored on their first possession in taking a 7-0 lead. Boothbay Region responded by tying the scoring on its first possession on a Dima Gosselin run.
This was the Seahawks’ first touchdown of the season. Boothbay Region had been shutout in their earlier games this season. Oak Hill scored two second-quarter touchdowns, taking a 21-7 lead. Boothbay Region scored its second touchdown late in the second quarter.
Boothbay Region coach Bryan Dionne attributed the offense’s improved play to changes in the scheme.
“We’ve simplified a few things, which improved our moving the ball,” Dionne said. “We’re a young team and need to improve our fundamentals like blocking and tackling. We also a couple guys missing tonight, requiring younger players to step in, and they did a really good job.”
Oak Hill’s record remains perfect at 3-0. Boothbay Region drops to 0-3.
