Seahawks battle Brunswick, Wiscasset
The Boothbay Region High School Seahawks swim team had two meets last week, home against Wiscasset on Dec. 22 and away against Brunswick on Dec. 15.
The Dec. 15 meet was dominated by the Brunswick team, who took firsts in 20 out of 24 events. The remaining four went to Lincoln Academy, which always participates alongside BRHS.
Seahawk Evy Case came in third in the girls 500-yard freestyle, coming extremely close to qualifying for states with a time of 6 minutes and 40.93 seconds — qualifying time is 6:40.
The Seahawks fared better in their match against Wiscasset, capturing four first places, two seconds, two thirds, one fourth and one fifth. First places went to Emma Pearce in the 200-yard freestyle and Evy Case in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard backstroke, along with the girls 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Second places went to Samantha Carter in the 200-yard IM and the girls 200-yard medley relay team. Thirds were Molly Thibault in the 100-yard freestyle and Samantha Carter in the 100-yard breaststroke. Fourth and fifth places went to Molly Thibault and Chelsie Graves, both in the 50-yard freestyle.
The Seahawks’ next meet will be at home at the Boothbay Region YMCA on Jan. 5 against Belfast.
