Seahawks take two firsts against Lions
The Boothbay Region High School Seahawks swim team competed against the Belfast Lions along with the Lincoln Academy Eagles at home on Jan. 5.
Out of seven events the Seahawks swam in, they took first twice, second once, and third place four times. They also picked up a fourth place and two sixth places.
While there were no new state qualifying times, Emma Pearce came very close in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:40.59, almost one second over. This is a big improvement over her last meet against Belfast, where her time was 6:46.54.
Pearce took first in the 500-yard freestyle, as did Evy Case in the 50-yard freestyle. Case also earned a second place in the 100-yard freestyle.
Third places went to Samantha Carter in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard breaststroke, Pearce in the 50-yard freestyle, and the girls 200-yard freestyle relay team. The relay team also took fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Sixth place finishers were Molly Thibault in the 100-yard freestyle and Genevieve Taylor in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Seahawks have three away meets coming up, and will host their next meet on Jan. 28 against Erskine.
